![]() The primary function of the Power Ring is to provide a weapon capable of transforming the wearer's thoughts into physical constructs through the wearer's mastery of love. Energy Constructs: The ring can form constructs of violet energy.Theoretically, a ring wielder could use the ring as his/her/its sole source of life support. Gravitational stresses which could cause injury are stabilized for the ring wielder. ![]() An atmosphere appropriate to the ring wielder's biology is created inside the force field, body temperature is maintained and waste products are removed. The ring creates a force-field around the wearer, protecting her from the hazards of the void including filtration of stellar radiation and microscopic particulate matter which would ordinarily be fatal should the space debris strike the ring wielder at high speeds. With the cosmic scope of a Star Sapphire's duties, it is only natural that the power ring is designed for operation in space. Force Field: The ring can create various force fields of various sizes and shapes to protect the wearer and others around him or her.The weapons power is more an indication of the love of the user. The ring can project beams of force powered by the love of the user. Energy Blasts: The ring can be used to fire blasts of violet energy or create weapons such as projectiles of them. The power of love is apparently more powerful in numbers allowing for various Star Sapphires to group together to increase the effect of their power. The limitations of such use are the skill, knowledge and imagination of the user. The ring can also create fields of force formed from an unknown energy that was bound by the users' love and will. ![]() Star Sapphire Power rings have the ability to affect and use fundamental forces of the known universe, including electromagnetic energies such as gravity, radiation, heat, light, and powerful blasts of concussive force. Star Sapphire Energy Conduit: The rings use Star Sapphire energy, supplied by a Power Battery, which in most cases takes the form of violet light. When the ring finds its potential candidate it first encases the initiate in a violet crystal casing from which minutes later the initiate bursts forth in a Star Sapphire uniform. Once they succeeded, the Zamarons had come to a bitter conclusion: the Star Sapphire was too unstable to be controlled on its own, so the Zamarons tried to lessen its power by splitting it into a Star Sapphire Ring and Power Battery. Finally restraining her, the Zamarons returned to their world to remove the Star Sapphire. As they tried to convince their sister to calm down, the Sapphire attacked them. Instead, Hal kissed one of the Zamarons, which the Sapphire immediately bonded to. After eons, the Zamarons forced Hal Jordan, the Green Lantern of Sector 2814, to choose which would be the Sapphire's host: Carol Ferris or Jillian Pearlman. What they failed to fully realize was that the Sapphire was a parasite which suppressed its hosts. The Zamarons concluded that the Star Sapphire was ultimate expression of love, and sought to emulate it. Between them was a violet crystal called the Star Sapphire. Within the caves, they found a pair of corpses, a male and female, embracing each other. Holland uses the power of the ring to retake the mantle of Swamp Thing and begin to heal the world. After leaving Oa, the Zamarons traveled the universe until they came to a planet they called Zamaron. The new beings band together to defeat a corrupted Swamp Thing, who is defeated when Deadman dies to give Alec Holland the white ring. By completing their tasks, three of the heroes are turned into elementals, with Martian Manhunter merging with the Earth, Firestorm becoming flames, Aquaman becoming water and the Hawks turning into air elementals. Meanwhile, Nekron has poisoned the planet, and some of the resurrected are required to prevent further disasters, while others are needed to overcome what stopped them in life, which would in turn purify the White Lantern. On his journey to find a replacement for The Entity, it's discovered that it has assigned tasks for each of the resurrected people. After Nekron's defeat, all members were "discharged" from the Corps aside from Deadman, who retains a white ring and is told he needs to find the "chosen one", as The Entity is dying. Black Hand then regurgitated twelve white rings which destroyed Nekron before bringing back to life twelve dead heroes and villains, such as Aquaman, Professor Zoom, Firestorm, Martian Manhunter and, most importantly, Deadman. A white ring has powers beyond that of any Lantern, and was used by Hal Jordan to resurrect Black Hand, severing Nekron's connection to the living world.
